Chart Thai Pattana prominent figure Somsak Prissanananthakul said on Wednesday that the Democrat Party's decision not to support the proposed charter amendments motion was not unexpected."I'm not disappointed.
I've never had any hopes [about the Democrats] because they've been trying to delay this issue for nearly a year now, even though agreements were made earlier," Mr Somsak said.
The Chart Thai Pattana Party will propose changes to the constitution to the parliament without asking for the Democrats' support again."He said Prime Minister and Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva would be responsible for calling a house dissolution because of the problems concerning charter amendments, but the countdown for the government had already begun.He believed the Chart Thai Pattana Party and other parties were ready for a general election if the charter was not amended.
Chart Thai Pattana leader Chumpol Silpa-archa said the coalition partners were not fazed by the Democrat Party's decision and the amendent motion would not be changed.Bhumjaithai Party leader Boonjong Wongtrairat said the Democrat decision could lead to more problems within the coalition.
