Despite the still soured relations between Thailand and Cambodia, ousted Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra arrived in Cambodia on Wednesday (January 21) for his third trip, according to a government spokesperson.
The fugitive PM's visit was in line with a job given to him by Cambodian PM Hun Sen as an economic adviser to the country.Since the 2006 coup, Thaksin has been living abroad to avoid a jail term for corruption in Thailand.
The appointment of Thaksin has sent diplomatic relations of the neighbouring countries downhill.Tensions between the neighbouring countries soared further when Phnom Penh then refused to extradite Thaksin during his first visit to Cambodia in his new role.
Thailand and Cambodia recalled their ambassadors in November and expelled senior diplomats over the appoinment.
