The United front for Democracy against Dictatorship does not plan a mobile rally against the government today, and will instead rearrange the provision of public utilities at the Ratchaprasong intersection rally site, UDD core leader Natthawut Saikua said on Thursday.
“The rally site will also be expanded to accommodate more red-shirts from the provinces who are coming to Bangkok to join the mass anti-government rally,” Mr Natthawut said.
The UDD leader claimed that he had received reports that the government had deployed snipers on top of several buildings around the Ratchaprasong intersection to threaten the protesters, but UDD leaders were not nervous.
Mr Natthawut denied any connection between the UDD and the unknown armed men the government claims incited the violence on Saturday.
He said the pictures shown by the Centre for Public Administration in Emergency Situations at yesterday's press conference were intended to besmirch the red-shirts' image.
