Tight security this morning at all television stations, particularly NBT, Channel 5 and Channel 7, after the red-shirts had yesterday announced they would at 11am today visit several TV stations, reports said.
Additional police and troops were deployed at all TV stations last night to prevent the supporters of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) from occupying the premises.
UDD core leader Arisman Pongruangrong said on Thursday the red-shirts would ask the TV channels to broadcast live the UDD’s 30 minute explanation of the fighting between troops and protesters on Saturday.
Weng Tochirakarn, another UDD core leader, affirmed at the Ratchaprasong rally stage on Friday morning that the red-shirts will not take over TV stations as some fear. UDD just wanted a chance to explain facts about Saturday's bloodshed to the general public.
UDD has accused the government of interfering in the electronic media and preventing it providing news about the red-shirts.
