GT200 test runs into early flak

Critics of the GT200 remote substance detector are calling into question the Science and Technology Ministry's planned testing of the device, saying it is not enough simply to prove its ability to detect bombs.

Human rights advocate Angkhana Neelaphaijit yesterday said she already had doubts whether the results of the tests, which are scheduled to be carried out on Sunday, could verify if the device could truly locate target substances.

The ministry is making preparations for a full day of testing of the GT200 at the Sirindhorn Science Home at the Thailand Science Park in Pathum Thani.
