The People's Alliance for Democracy on Friday submitted a petition to Senate Speaker Prasopsuk Boondej seeking the impeachment of 102 MPs who signed the charter amendment motion.
The petition says that in signing the motion the MPs had had violated Sections 122 and 270 of the constitution, because the proposed charter amendments were only for the self-interest of politicians.
PAD members, led by Pibhop Dhongchai, said they would start to gather 20,000 signatures of eligible voters to back the petition as required by Section 164 of the constitution.
The amendment motition was submitted to Parliament President Chai Chidchob on Wednesday by 102 MPs. Most of the MPs were of the five junior coaltion parties - Bhumjaithai, Chart Thai Pattana, Ram Jai Thai Chart Pattana, Puea Pandin and Social Action - but there were a few opposition MPs names.
