Red-shirt people group led by Puea Thai MP for Udon Thani Kriangsak Faisi-ngam on Friday morning protested against Deputy Interior Minister Boonjong Wongtrairat at the province’s airport, reports said.
They parked a pickup truck in front of the airport’s passenger terminal and used a loudspeaker to criticise and demand the minister's expulsion from the province. They said Udon Thani people would not welcome any minister of the Democrat-led government.
Mr Boonjong, who was on his way to a function in nearby Nong Khai province, left the airport immediately after his plane landed to avoid a confrontation with the protesters, amid tight security.
The minister is a key member of the Friends of Newin faction within the Democrat's main coalition partner, the Bhumjaithai Party.
