UDD to clear rift with Gen Panlop

The announcement that the red-shirt people group has no plan to set up the “people’s army” was not aimed at insulting Gen Panlop Pinmanee, core leader of the pro-Thaksin United front for Democracy against Dictatorship Jatuporn Promphan said on Saturday afternoon.
“The plan to set up the army’s people to fight for a true democracy was not a resolution of the UDD”, Mr Jatuporn said.
“UDD leaders have agreed to go for the “final battle” against the Abhisit government and the bureaucrats later this month. But UDD will use peaceful means in fighting for the victory”, he added.
Mr Jatuporn thanked Gen Panlop, a key member of Puea Thai Party and former deputy director of the Internal Security Operations Comand, and said he would seek ways to meet with Gen Panlop and army specialist Maj Gen Khattiya Sawasdipol to clear up the rift.
Gen Panlop, who met Thaksin in Dubai last Wednesday, said that Thaksin plans to set up the people’s army with Puea Thai chairman Gen Chavalit Yongchaiyudh as the supreme commander in fight against the Democrat-led government.
Gen Chavalit on Friday rejected the post and Mr Jatuporn had also denied his group plans to set up the people’s army.
Gen Panlop then declared the same day that he would no longer involve in any activities of the red shirts.
