The court ruling on whether to seize the 76 billion in frozen assets of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his family, due on Feb 26, will not have any impact on liquidity of Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), the bank’s president Kannika Chalit-arporn said on Wednesday.
“Thaksin, his son and daughters have about 10 billion baht deposited in accounts with the SCB, which is a very small part of the bank’s 900 billion baht liquidity. Therefore, there will be no effect on our bank ... if the court rules to seize the assets,” Mrs Kannika said.
The bank would comply with any court order, she added.
